Faces
Following the Beirut bombing, Rahi presented a sequence honoring the many fathers, mothers, men, and women battling to improve Lebanon. In the two paintings, Faces of Power and Faces of Empowerment, Rahi juxtaposes the idea of the warrior and the victim, rendering them in a state of peculiar conflict. These paintings’ use of power illustrates how individuals struggle with the dual nature of warriorhood and victimhood, revealing the fine line between the two and how individual decisions can tilt the scales in favor of one versus the other.
